Hello everyone today I’m going to talk about taking a week off from the gym and why it’s actually good for you, not bad!
First of all if your anything like me and feel as if you are guilty and missing out when you skip a day in the gym don’t! It’s a waste if energy. When you take extended breaks from weight lifting in the gym to just go home and relax on the couch, don’t worry this is actually better for you then you thought. If you a avid weight lifter and get to a point when your physically drained, I think it’s about time to take a week off the gym. This will make physical and biochemical changes that will increase muscle mass over time. Working out and training your muscles is just part of the first step to gaining muscle, step two would be giving your body the time it needs to rest and recover from the training. Just as long as you are still sticking with your meal plan you won’t notice any significant changes in your body when you take a week or so off. Now you don’t want to take a week off regularly every couple of weeks, you want to push your self for 8-12 weeks then give your self the time you need. You don’t want to over-train your muscles, this causes OTS. Over-training syndrome results in poor sleep, and a drop in hormone production which in return shuts down muscle growth.
