Hello!
At the end of the month I am doing a 5k Foam Run! Although I have been doing lots of running inside on a treadmill, I find there is a huge difference between that and running outdoors. So this is something I will have to train for! When I first started running on a treadmill there was no way I could run for a full 30 minutes, so just like everyone else I had to work my way up. I can now run 5k on a treadmill in 30 minutes, outside will be totally different so I don’t expect to be able to do this 5k that fast. I found the best way to work my way up to running the full 30 minutes was so start running for 1 minute, walking 1 minute and doing this for the whole 30 minutes. Once that gets easy for you, you can move onto running for 2 minutes walking for 1 minute, once that gets easy moving up the minutes you run again until you’re running the full 30 minutes! Although this Foam Run has a lot of stops throughout it, obstacle courses and mud pits I still plan to give it my all as I would in anything else thing I do! This run will be the second 5k I have done and it makes me want to train to do a half marathon. Having a time you completed something in and then trying to beat that time with every marathon you do is something I really like the thought of! What better competition than yourself. Now if you’re training for a race of any size I would recommend giving yourself 8 weeks to train for it, running at least 3 times a week. If you could also get weight training in there as well you will help prepare your body even more!
Take care, xoxo
